The federal unemployment ended about 8 weeks ago I believe. The federal plan ends in early September. Some governors (including Texas) have already ended it in their states. Long term unemployed that were working in areas that were determined to have higher unemployment rates qualified got an extra 13 weeks. 1/2 paid by the state and half by uncle Biden. It is called Extended Unemployment and ends on September 11. There are strict work search requirements on this program.

Lest we forget about the economic loss from the millions of folks that were aborted. Forget the politics, morality, or any other argument. Those were many U.S. citizens that possibly could contribute to our society There would just be more kids in foster care and on welfare.

wow y'all need to learn about a super work force Mexicano's & Guatemalans
our industry has a shortage but my jobs are manned up $35 per hour for laborers I agree with Butch as I am a roofer also. The good Ole' days of cheap south of border labor is over. My guys on commercial jobs get $35 and it's getting out of hand! $35/hr for a basic laborer with no skill set? FML, I was a cop for the better part of 20 years before I made $35 an hour.

Most thought that was remedied by now. We will see in Sept. if it changes, but am guessing it might not

I’m the controller for a chain of buy here pay here dealerships. We can’t get anyone to work doing anything. We are hiring for every position and the pay/benefits are actually pretty good. Even just showing up to your job on time these days pretty much makes you the most competent person there.

seems many qualified for this as evidenced by the fast food worker shortage. Most thought that was remedied by now. We will see in Sept. if it changes, but am guessing it might not In some states it should show an improvement but Texas got rid of it a couple months ago. There are just a lot of jobs available and its the worker who has the edge. I would suggest to anyone who is taking advantage of your employer that this like everything else, will not last.

I'm sure, just cause the doors arent open doesnt mean there isnt plenty to do. When people actually show up you handcuff them to station so they cant leave.....

What kind of pay and benefits do Taco Bell employees get? Of all the fast food chains, they seem to have their chit together better by far than any of the others. Noticed it again today after reading this thread. Was wondering if its just so much easier to make the stuff they serve or what. Throughout this whole covid thing I've never been told.. we are out of hot sauce, or that isn't available at this time. Still have the best hours of operation and from what I can tell the most competent workers.

The longer the training curve the harder it is to deal with. Their training curve is exceptionally short. Hell they have been running places with kids for 30 years basically, checking boxes is their thing. The volume comes into play also. A place like McDonald's generally has exceptionally high volume which requires alot of bodies and a couple people short on a shift can cause chaos.

Taco Bell, for being what it is, usually does pretty well, but CFA has great systems in place, everyone working there is friendly and competent, etc.

Heck Trebor I made $125 an hour as a systems admin...and thats in the middle of the pack...:)
Sure there are people who will collect unemployment benefits as long as possible...nothing new there. The underlying symptom of low pay contributes to this attitude in my experience. I get it that employers want to pay a wage that ensures they are profitable and offer wages accordingly. And people can not accept those wages if they choose. But then we see the scenarios of people not showing up for work as they know they can find another low wage job if they get fired. It perpetuates a vicious cycle in the employment market which we are seeing today. I get the idea that minimum wage is or should be a starting point for many people. However given the costs of living today it is never going to meet those basic requirements. Sure there are ambitious people who will move up and improve their skills. But there are also people who will not for whatever reason. Lazy people or those people who lack ambition have been around since man walked upright and that will probably never change.
The other side of this employment coin is that every employer wants 20 years experience and only wants to pay $12.00 an hour for it with no insurance, etc. There are unrealistic expectations on the employer side as well. For $12 an hour I'll drive by your place, for $25 I'll talk to you and for $30 I'll show up and do the job...:)
