The movie was close to being cancelled because of the drought and the lack of corn. Some local determined if they irrigated the crop it might save it. It worked so well, they said Costner had to walk on apple crates through the field because it had grown so fast. It was the only corn to survive in the whole county. “ When you're racing, it's life.
