I hooked this 19-pound, 34 inch, black buffalo on my #2 carp slayer fly. I knew it was a big fish when I hooked it, so I carefully worked it to the net. It was over 15 minutes of fun. You don’t always need a big hook. A small strong hook can catch a big fish. The fish was released to fight another day.

so cool. not sure where you caught this- but, fyi, at LLELA in Lewisville when they do the trout release, and close the dam down to a trickle, there is great fly fishing for buffalo--- you can sight fish them w flies. check it out in case your ever in the area...huge population of buffalos- and a shot to catch rainbows too....most fun i've had on a fly rod..... nice fish!!!!

Thanks for the tip. It has been years since I have been to LLELA. I may give it a try this winter.
