Hit the water after work around 5. Attempted to soak some minnows under the bridge but we only had split shots and couldn’t get down far enough to catch any fish. Lesson learned. It was real windy and I did not want to cross the lake so I drifted (no trolling motor) some protected water around the power plant with slabs and meps and caught exactly one keeper sandy to get the skunk off. there was some activity though I did see a few fish hitting shad and a big ole drum surface. Headed in and I saw some bird activity off of a point and idled over to drift into it and the birds all left and we did not catch, I was very surprised . I was easily 40 yards away when idling before setting the drift if not more, I guess I scared them off. All in all though a great first day on the water, I am going to enjoy the challenge of finding freshwater fish.
Good luck this weekend.

Welcome LOTM. Hubbard is a Great Lake to fish, especially after Labor Day is over.
