Chicken livers wrapped and tied in either panty hose squares or gauze/cheesecloth. Think of the little bags on the end of a hobo stick. Make up a bunch in advance and toss 'em in the freezer until you go fishing. The panty hose squares or gauze/cheesecloth keeps it on the hook for casting. When you get one interested watch your rod tip, they'll suck on it for a bit getting the blood out of the liver before taking it. Doesn't have to be a whole liver. I cut mine up so each little "bundle" is about the diameter of a quarter. Making the bundles is sticky and messy but can be done well in advance. On fishing day just use a knife to cut it off when it's time to re-bait. I can sit in front of the TV with a cutting board, pair of scissors, and a spool of string and tie up about 40 or so in an hour. Cut the squares larger than you think you'll need because when you bring all the corners together to to it up it somehow seems to shrink.
