I've tried worms and hot dogs with little luck. Don't care for stink bait if I can avoid it due to the mess and obvious stink, I like to fish when I can squeeze it in and don't have time to shower after.

Most bait used for catfish is going to have a "scent" of some sort. That's what attracts the fish. Other ideas would be shrimp with garlic powder, chicken breast soaked in jello. Heck recently I have been using corn to catch carp and have been catching more catfish.
Personally, I prefer cut bluegill.

I think shrimp smells as bad as some punch baits lol. +1 on cut bluegill and chicken.
You get out of it what you put into it!

Bluegill (live or cut) and plain chicken breast with nothing added. WillieRip on here had a recipe for chicken mixed with pool salt that worked really well for him.

Shad, Bluegill, (cut and live on both) and chicken breast. I've caught a lot of nice ones on all, and there are many days that any one of the three outfishes the others by a mile. So, I always have each of them in the water, even if one is getting more bites than the others, I still leave the variety out there.

If you want to try Stubbys I can give you a free tub, the large size one.
I ordered two a while back and only used half of one. It seems like a fine bait it just wasn't for me.
Shoot me a PM if interested... I'm in the Lewisville/Flower Mound area... if you can pick it up it's yours.

why was it not for you sir (the stubby's that is) Small fish picked the bait off pretty easily. I was getting lots of bites but few hook ups. I got the feedback that its best to hold the rod as they wont hold the bait long. That is not very practical when fishing from a kayak. Also I like to try to target bigger fish when I can. Dont get me wrong I like eaters, but would like to really catch those when targeting bigger fish by using big baits and Stubbys just did not appeal to me as a big fish bait. It works for a lot of folks! I read the reports and see the pics... but it just was not for me. If anyone wants the second tub I have no opened let me know, if you can pick it up its yours. Not doing me any good hopefully someone could enjoy it.

Gonna miss a lot of fish if you don’t have the rod in your hand with Stubby’s. Also, most people tend to use a rod that is too heavy action. We use medium light spinning rods and braided line. Stubby’s isn’t for everybody and we completely understand that. We catch lots of fish with it and are here to help anyone that has questions. My number and Stubby’s is posted all over. Just a phone call away
