I've driven out to 36 bridge and Welch park a couple mornings and evenings the last week just to watch and see if any white bass are surfacing. I haven't seen any yet, nor much shad around.
When I was at 36 bridge yesterday there was a couple fisherman that had took their boat up to the emergency overflow area. They had a large ice chest filled with big blue cats that would barely fit into the cooler. And absolutely beautiful cooler of fish. I should have taken a picture. They were cutting small perch in half and using the head for bait.
I asked if he caught any white bass but he said he hadn't caught or seen any and didn't think they have arrived in any numbers yet.
The lake is 4.25 foot high. With the gates fully open in usually recedes about a 1/4 foot per day. So at a minimum the gates will be open another 17 days. Since they usually reduce the flow as the lake gets closer to normal level they will likely be releasing water for close to 25 days.

We’ve been finding large schools of hybrid and whites in 12-14FOW suspended. If you can keep your bait 6-8ft below surface you're in the money. Water temps were in high 80s-lower 90s this past week.

I had more fun catching bait fish for the freezer then I did actually getting snagged on all the grass. But hey It beats working

Still struggling to find the hybrids and whites. I know they are out there, as I’ve seen guides bringing in big hauls. Yegua seems pretty dead, as I’ve trolled the entire area in my kayak several times now and no schools on the fish finder.
Anyone willing to drop the general name of an area they have been hitting?

When it happens like this - we can get you limits in minutes. This has been daily. Fish are actively feeding and can easily be followed. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/06/full-36088-101262-15daa0bd_8e51_4686_a108_8b55853545e8.jpeg)

Howdy fellas,
I was hoping for some help with a couple questions about launching at the Hwy 36 bridge. My son and I hauled our boat over yesterday and noticed there were a few trucks and small boat trailers by the bridge. We walked down through the water to the main creek channel but it looked a bit sketchy having never launched there before.
Our boat is a 17’ Tracker and I’m pulling it with a 2wd suv. Any of y’all know that spot well enough to give some feedback as to whether it’s doable without trashing the boat or getting stuck?
I’m itching to get in there and flip some baits back into the bushes! Any help will be much appreciated!
Thanks

It’s doable. Facing the dam launch from your right side. There some stumps on the left side, be careful. Is the road to the dam still closed?

with the water level currently I'd advise at least a 4x4 to get out... you might get in with 2WD but it is very doubtful you can get out.. there really isn't a good place to get a trailer down into the creek other than to just drop it over the bank but getting back out will take some guts..

It was a great day. Friday was the same thing. I caught 30 white bass and a striped bass on Friday; 52 white bass and a striped bass on Monday.
There is a large portion of the fish that have come upstream from the Brazos. As short of a time that the gates were open fully didn't seem like enough to put this amount of fish into the Yegua. It's backed up by the fact that I caught striped bass of 2 different age groups; and the white bass varied from very dark to very light color as well as some very thin fish mixed in.
