Not to mention that the lakes weren't as level back then as they are today. Had to paddle uphill both ways just to get to the best spots. Was that after WWI or WW2? Eat. Sleep. Fish.

SM bed in a lot deeper water than LM, and in the case of SLR, its crystal clear. If there is no wind, then you can see them with just sunglasses, but if its rough.. another tool was required.. a flogger. I watched all 6 days off an on and I saw very few of them watching a graph.. about the only thing they used them for was mapping and way points. Its fine if you don't like the BPT format, but what Wheeler did was incredible.. and there were 79 guys that couldn't duplicate what he did.. hence he won by 20lbs or so. And if it mattered.. his 5 fish limit would have pushed 30lbs. BD
