If you enjoy and must have a kayak, you might look for the lightest, fastest, and most comfortable one that fits you after you do all test runs on the candidates. Then you might consider adding something like this for stability:

There are many different versions and makers of retractable Outriggers available, a search might turn up exactly what you want, or you can make your own.

If those wakes from large boats in your pond are frequent and of considerable size, you might consider the fastest kayak with some rocker, so you can turn a pointed Bow quickly into the wake. Even the widest kayak might have stability issues if hit broadside by a big wake and your fanny probably getting wet might be the least of your concerns.

OP if I understand you correctly you are concerned with kayaks that have a low seat because they tend to keep your butt wet. These are a solution for that issue. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B7LO9N...33D5M6HMXPG0QQK?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I have a kayak with a low seat and use these and my butt stays pretty much dry. It's not wide at least for a fishing kayak but really stable because I'm sitting at the same level as the water. Low center of gravity is key.

You get out of it what you put into it!

This interesting link explains why long and narrow boats are not faster for those that can only power them to say, around 3mph and even somewhat above that (like some older paddlers). Makes sense to me, because a smaller, wider boat has a smaller surface area and lower TOTAL weight to push forward and essentially no form resistance, means a higher speed than 3mph than a long heavy boat.

My advise, which is worth about zero, is to try out different models.
There should be a store in your area that will allow you to rent and try, or have a day or two out of the year where they have several kayaks out at the lake for people to try out.
It's pretty simple though, in that the wider the kayak the more stable it will be, but everything comes with a cost such as speed vs. stability.

Just one more cast!
