 Knocking noise in motor

I have a 2004 Johnson 2 stroke 40 hp. It starts right up and idles smoothly and runs great until I get to about
2/3 full throttle and then I get a knocking noise out of the engine. If I go down on rpm's to below 2/3 the knocking goes away.
Any ideas on what this could be. I changed the lower and no meta shavings in the oil at all.
Any help would be appreciated.

Anybody have an idea of what is causing this-I'm assuming something is seriously wrong with the motor but was
hoping I could get an idea of what the cause is.

Knocking is never good. Start with a compression test.
