I was wondering if there is a best time to buy a Dobyns rod? Do they have sales?

Any major holiday it seems. 20% off is the norm. Gary did a really big sale right after COVID hit to move inventory, but that was a really one off from what I've seen. American Legacy usually runs the best Holiday sales that I can recall on the norm.

Look at Classifieds here and BBC. Tons of them for sale.

This right here, I recently got a couple Champion XP rods from American Legacy Fishing, 20% off and free shipping, rods were drop shipped from Dobyns in Sulphur Springs to my house in Watauga, had them the next day.

They are having a big Fathers Days sale currently, 25% NRX rods, Shimano SLX MGL combos on sale, and others, new deals everyday until the 20th, no Dobyns currently though.

Sportsman Outfitters had a 20% sale going on but it may have ended by now.

Bought 2 Champion Extreme HP's last year when they had their 40% off sale. To me they compare to rods at the 40% off price. No way are they worth close to retail but they have a heck of a fanboy following on Facebook who think they stole em during the sale.

I like there fury line. I fished an Xstacy once. I really like it but did not think it was on par with NRX. Just my 2 cents. If the Xstacy was a 300 rod I would have loved. Im not in love at 550.

I have to agree. I bought two Sierras at 40% off. They are nice rods, but they aren't worth full price. I have cheaper rods that are lighter and more sensitive.

There's no way I'd pay full price for another. Actually, I wouldn't buy another Dobyns.

I paid $300 for my Xtasy and and happy with for that price. cheers

I wouldn't pay $550.00 for one though then again I don't pay retail for anything if I can help it. thumb

I bought a couple more of the Fury Swimbait rods for like $65 when he did that sale last year, wish I had bought a couple more. I love them anyway at the full price point but that $65 price point was crazy.

What rods do you have that are cheaper, lighter, and more sensitive than the Dobyns? Just curious.

Cheaper, lighter, and more sensitive? Dobyns are none of the three but they do balance well which helps offset the weight.
