Bought 2 Champion Extreme HP's last year when they had their 40% off sale. To me they compare to rods at the 40% off price. No way are they worth close to retail. I have to agree. I bought two Sierras at 40% off. They are nice rods, but they aren't worth full price. I have cheaper rods that are lighter and more sensitive. There's no way I'd pay full price for another. Actually, I wouldn't buy another Dobyns. What rods do you have that are cheaper, lighter, and more sensitive than the Dobyns? Just curious. Cheaper, lighter, and more sensitive? Dobyns are none of the three but they do balance well which helps offset the weight. You are just a Dobyns hater that is obvious but there are way more people than your self that like them. Every time someone asks about a Dobyns rod you bash them.

Phonenix920 what rods are cheaper, lighter and more sensitive than the Dobyns. Maybe you can come up with an answer. Lee seems to be having a problem coming up with an answer.

Are you offended? Because it sounds like you are offended. I'm just getting back into fishing, so I'm building my collection and learning as I go. I'm not an expert. I'm sharing my opinion based on my personal observations. The Sierras are very well built. They are good quality, but they aren't something I'm going to buy again. After buying the Sierras, I picked up a Falcon Lowrider that felt much lighter and more sensitive. It was easier to feel bites, especially with Texas rigs and Finesse Jigs. The downside was it didn't feel as, I dunno, tough? I picked up an older Shimano Crucial for cheap, and it is amazing compared to the Sierras. It really opened my eyes. The Shimano Intenza is another one. Better value if you can get into the weird grip and hook keeper. After playing around with several techniques on different rods, I decided to only use the Sierras for moving baits where sensitivity doesn't matter. The Sierras are nice, but I didn't feel they were a good value. Based on that, I've decided to spend my money trying other brands.

Boy you sure got your undies in a wad didn't you. Amazing we can't have different opinions in today's world without someone getting butt hurt. And personally I bought a dobyns once. Won't buy another one.

I have Dobyns, G. Loomis, Shimano, Falcon, Bass pro Shops, I-rods, custom built rods and a few more.
They all work depending on the technique...

Lee seems to be having a problem coming up with an answer. well lets see. more sensitive shimano expride blows the champion xp out of the water for the same or $10 more. For $150 ducket micro magic and ark invoker are as sensitive if not more than champion xp at $100 less. some models of all 3 are lighter some arent. dobyns has great balance. i have 3 of there cranking rods and i love them.

Look for sales, people selling them, or go to the warehouse in Sulfur springs.

Sorry, I got on here after mowing the yard, spraying for weeds and had too many beers while doing that, and my back was hurting.

I think if you’re military or first responder they (Dobyns) offer a discount when you order from the shop directly. Can’t recall what it is but I want to say it’s like 30%.

Thanks for the help I may just wait til Black Friday . I really like dobyns rods. I love the visual look of the Xstacy. I just don’t think they are that sensitive for the price. I did see the New Steez rods the other day in store and really wanted one. After selling all my gear I am down to 1 bait caster and 1 spinning rod. Both are the new NRX plus. I am obsessed with those rods. But at 600 a rid it’s going to be a long time before I can get anymore.

You're gonna get tired of retying, but then again you may only throw two baits. Dobyns are good rods from what I've read. Not everyone has the same opinion. I've never put a Dobyn's in my hands so I prolly just need to hush it up. Good luck with finding a deal.
