I'm on a budget. I bought a Lowrance for the front of the boat. I found out that the transducer is not for use on a trolling motor and it's difficult to see in the sun. I'm considering a Garmin Striker Vivid 5 CV to replace it. Anybody have any experience with this model ? Any help would be appreciated. I'm a casual fisherman and will mainly use it to find schools of sandbass.

Not sure of your budget but I thought I saw a Garmin echo map 93 for less than $700.00. I believe it was Bass Pro.

The Striker 5 CV is a great little unit. Just remember, it is down vu only (no sidevu) and does not have maps or a card slot to add maps. You can make your own maps while fishing with QuickDraw.
