caught my first buzzbait fish yesterday. Never been a fan of whopper ploppers, and a buddy told me to toss a buzzbait. Finally bought one and tossed it....and it was pretty fun! seems like a great technique for covering lots of water too!!! So I think im gonna try and add that technique into my arsenal since it seems like it can work well at my windy/rocky muddy lake.

I was using the booyah with a clacker...but im seeing on TW theres all kinds of different styles. What style, or which buzzbaits do you like to throw? Do you throw clackers in one situation and no clackers in another, or double blade in certain situations? Or is one certain style a workhorse thatll just get bit regardless of conditions. Are there situations you DONT throw a buzzbait in....or is it a good option anytime you are considering topwater?

Caught mine right off rock points/pile type deals.....and it was almost like they were waiting for it LOL

It’s all about the squeal, a good hook, and a great trailer hook. Nothing else really matters.

Basically my go to as well. I’ve been doing well on Cavitron the last month. I’ve dabbled with the War Eagle buzz toad too. I keep going back to my confidence baits.

I never knew why a bass would ever hit a buzz bait until I was on Fork one night and the shad hitting the surface sounded just like one.

funny you mention that. I was watching the jacob wheeler video from when they won a local derby and gave the money back....and they were catching them on spinnerbaits. Connell said something along the lines of "we are catching fish with metal and wire" and when I got my first bite i was thinking the same thing. Ive honestly never thrown the buzzbait because i thought it looked silly.....how the hell am i gonna get a bass to hit that hunk of metal at the right angle to get a hook in em. I know i got a little lucky but the ones I caught yesterday had a perfect hook in em at the top of the mouth.

interesting creatures.......that are costing me about $60 worth of buzzbaits on my next order. if they want metal and wires, ill give them metal and wires roflmao

I still have a box full of hydrilla gorillas we used to throw on Amistad. It’s about the only one I throw.

Do yourself a favor and find a cheap one (lunker lure, bps or cabelas brand ) glue a trailer on it and add a trailer hook. No need to break the bank, as long as the hook is decent and they make some noise you are good to go...

Agree. Tie that on some 50-60# braid and have at it.

Strike King Mini Pro Buzz 1/8 oz is a really inexpensive, effective buzzbait that works on ponds and lakes both. Color can make a difference but that is rare, white, chartreuse, white/chartreuse and black. Occasionally the black makes a difference. The hardest thing about fishing a buzzbait is not setting the hook so soon that you take the bait away from the fish. When possible have a backup bait ready when you miss one, a senko dropping in the same zone is hard for that hungry fish to resist.

Excellent. Best buzz bait ever made. It is short, compact and plays the right tune.
