So we headed out yesterday after work to Amistad since it's supposed to rain over the weekend. It was nowhere as windy as last Friday and that's a good thing. We were targetting sunfish to use for flathead bait. We were throwing 1/64 and 1/32 ounce jigs and caught quite a few.



Do you guys ever catch sunfish at night? We were casting to the edge and they were down about 10ft.
As the sun was going down i caught a carp on a 32 oz jig with 4lb test, talk about a !


We also caught lmb, gaspergou, white bass 1 channel cat, a couple of shad and a bat.







Though we didnt catch any flatheads we had a great time. All fish were released even the perch that weren't picked to be put on a bigger hook. The bat wasnt so lucky, i was not going to touch that sucker!

Carp and Shad ! You can catch everything on those JIGLYF baits !!

Wow Yesinia, Catching a 30 inch carp on 4 lb. test line is the sign of a master angler. I've been broke off with 6 lb. fluorocarbon too many times to count.

Thanks Chuck i wish we couldve video it, but we didnt have camera ready and Leo was to busy helping me chase it around with the trolling motor till i wore it out. As for the bat fish....that was a first hopfully a last. Lol

Bats are very beneficial until they contact humans, That one came pretty close. Some great fish you caught there, As a young fellow I fished below a dam using dough balls with friends and we caught many that size or bigger but none of us used 4 lb line on utralights.

That is so true about bats and i wasnt about to help him either, not with my hands anyway.
Ill bet you and your friends had a blast catching carp. The are tough fighters!
