I've always thought that most fry guarders wise up real quick. Can't tell you how many times I've see a bass right by a ball of fry and you can hit them in the head and they still won't bite.

A bait that works on one fish will go ignored by the next. We worked on one fish for well over an hour with every soft plastic bait in my boat. I tied on a suspending jerk bait and threw out past the fish. Reeled it down to them and stopped it in right in front of her face. I twitched it twice and she chased it all the way to the boat. I handed the rod to my customer and he caught her next cast. She went 9-2. Be open minded and you'll be successful.

All the above work.

But, I've seen some of the most violent strikes with big wake baits. Just pitch them softly into a fry area and a lot of the time they'll unleash on it with just half a turn of the handle.
