I am putting together a 14' tracker that has been sitting for a while, and adding a 25hp Yamaha to it. Couple of questions:

Do I have to have bill of sale to register it, or is the title of the boat & trailer enough?
Do I have to carry any liability insurance as you do with other vehicles?

Answers will save me some heart burn, so thanks in advance.

If the title is in your name you should be good to go. Will also need the title of the motor.

No insurance is not required, but its not a bad thing to carry, and pretty cheap for boats.

You will not need the title to the motor to register the boat for TX numbers or the trailer for plates.

If you are transferring ownership of the boat, you'll need TPWD Form 143. That's what they use to keep records AND collect taxes and fees. You can download and print it from their website. It'll help you if you read their info on the process. Like cva34 said, BS and numerous trips to their offices. Good luck. IslandJim
