Need advice regarding a "Mophorn or Vevor" Hydraulic steering kits. They look good but wonder how they perform?
If you have any experience with either one of these , please give me some help. Buy this brand ?,or spend more for a big name brand?

Steering is not something to go cheap on.

I’m running a BayStar on my bass boat. I love it. Easy install.

Do NOT EVER run baystar with a V6 engine. I know it says 150, but it's not. That stupid system failed on me and slung me out of a boat in January

What about on a 115 pat, thats scaring me now

Never heard of a problem with a V4, I'm sure it's fine.
Just so the story is correct,
I was testing a customers boat, it had a 150 merc, we were trying props and setting motor height.
Went into a moderate left hand turn, the motor went full lock, and wouldn't come out. It's what we call a bow hook, it corkscrewed itself into the water, and slung me 60 feet into the water. I KNOW its says "150" but when you read the fine print, it also says NOT recommended for V6 applications. Very misleading, and they need to adjust their words.

4 years with my 115 4S and nary a hiccup. I agree with Sea Star on a V6.

I would only do sea star are Uflex

I don't have one of the fancy high performance Mercury motors. Just a Johnson 150 so I went with Baystar. Several years of service now. No issues but I don't run WOT every time I crank the motor. Also I don't drive hard and turn like I see lots of folks do. If I did I might have issues. I spend about as much time in the 16' aluminium rig with a 25hp as I do the 19' with a 150. So as recommended the Seastar is the better option for sure. But for me.. at the time it was like a 650.00 difference. So I went with the Baystar. Knowing how I drive the boat I figured I was good.

Im probably fine then, where I go I never make a sharp turn without a corresponding back off the throttle. I dont need to go fast I just need to get there and not hit too much.

Maybe I wasn't clear, I wasn't running WFO, maybe fifty, and did a left hand turn, nothing spectacular. Motor went full lock, and wasn't coming out of it, the steering wheel turned, but nothing happened. You talk yourself into whatever you like, I'm telling you to be careful.

Pat I wasn’t referring to you. I was referring to the chart. Me not having a high performance motor and not crowding the motor I do have, I decided to go with the one I went with. It has worked awesome for my boat and the way I run it. I read about the systems and knew that I was on the upper end of the hp range when I did the install. My cables were locking up and I had to do something and money was an issue so I made my decision based on my factors. I was just stating that so far I have had no issues with the BayStar. I know you post some great advice on here and I’m not trying to take away from your advice.. I’m know the SeaStar is a much better option, but at that time it was over twice the price.
