Thank you for the kind words! Make sure and keep your dad and his friend away from all the hybrids!
It was a pleasure to have y’all 3 on the boat. Until next time 🤙🏻

That's because there was no white bass run on the Yegua. The shad spawn is getting ready to start in the next couple of weeks so I'll be beating the banks.

I went to Birch early this morning. There were already 15 people on the dock catching crappie. There were poles lined up around the point and they were catching white bass. No shad around.

I left and went to Welch Park. There were poles lined up around the normal places but nobody was catching. There were some boats out on the buoys and they were catching white bass. Probably best to use the yak for the next couple of weeks.

Temperature in the high 80s and low 90s for the next 10 days. That should get the shad spawn going.

This year has been a bust so far. I had a three day period where I caught close to 150 White Bass (Sabine River). Other than that, not much to report. No run on the Perdernales and just can't really get into the fishing around Granger. So many undersize fish. I've been spoiled by all the good years on Yegua and Nails.

You kayakers..

Launch at Welch point and set up on the big hump that’s inside the markers. East side of the point. It’s less than 2FOW on that hump.

Hybrids and whites are among the edges at the drop.

Thanks for the report R2. Great info to put us yakkers on the bite. I took the kayak to Birch Creek yesterday ~5pm, but the wind was blowing me all over the place even though I was anchored down. Caught a few on minnows and jigs (the ghost minnow thump chubbies from Constant Pursuit Outfitters are awesome!) Most were small ~9 or 10", but still fun. Very light bite, and the wind didnt make it any easier. I cant wait for the shad spawn so I can take my daughter out her yak. She loves to see them boiling all around us. TIght Lines all!!

I was wondering the same thing. All of a sudden this is an advertisement thread

Same here. After all these years participating in this thread I don’t like the turn it is taking. I am glad someone spoke up.

I still use this thread for bank fishing Somerville. The white bass run at Somerville has been a bust this year so I went on a guided trip instead.

Personally I've never had an issue with guides advertising on the forum. Let's me know my options plus they generally give a lot of good information.

Going out to the lake this evening to fish Welch Park. I'm going to take the yak but plan on wading out first to see if they might be close enough to reach them with the fly rod. If not, I'll paddle out to the buoy and fish from the yak.

I've fished all of these at one point in time except for Llano, Middle Bosque & South Bosque. I'm pretty sure Llano flows into Lake LBJ. What about Middle & South Bosque? Is it Lake Waco?

If I had time to explore all those spots, life would be good.

Yes, The Bosque rivers feed into Waco. I couldn't find a wadable spot on the North Bosque.

Life is great. I had several 100 plus white bass days with some stripers, hybrids and yellow bass mixed in as well. I love to explore new rivers so since there was no run on the Yegua, it gave me a good excuse to travel.

Agreed. It's always fun trying new places. This year was the first year I really explored the upper end of Willis Creek on Lake Granger. Not much to show for it, but they were enjoyable trips and I saw a lot of wildlife.
