Nice catch OP! I've been trying to haul one in of that size for years without success. Lots of hookups, but never sealed the deal. That's a memory your kids will have forever. Little man has a great coach. Thanks for helping out bass, bream, crappie & other game fish population in CC. It's illegal to harvest a gar of that size so hopefully it was released. Also, it's a myth that gator gar hurt game fish populations. According to a study performed by TPW biologists on the stomachs of almost 400 gator gar, they primarily feed on carp, tilapia, and shad.
