I would do the same thing. Look at the places where there is public access and they are usually TRASHED! Can't blame the guy one minute for keeping his land private. Glad he won his court battle. Just my two cents.

The lake isn't closed, just the ramp. You can launch kayaks off the bridge. If someone wants to fish the lakes up there. Thay can load yaks on a float plane and fly in. He just don't want people on his land

So it is okay for him to do it, but then all you guys get on here and piss and moan about Squaw Creek not opening up? Makes sense.

folks shouldnt be mad at the private land owner they should be mad at state officials who oversaw stocking of state fish in these lakes only to have them shut off to the taxpayers that paid for them. squaw creek is another good example shut down on a whim about the virus that is nearly over with.

You would have to repel and stand in the water to fish.

Liability is the key to this, someone gets hurt out there on a billionaires private property and they go after the billionaire, not the government. There are such things as easements, etc... that give the landowner protection. This really has nothing to do with liability's, it’s how people like Kroenke roll. He and his organizations will use every PR gimmick in the book to try and paint the narrative, but it’s not hard to see what this is really about. If you own a home, and there is a sidewalk and city easement, and someone gets hurt on said easement, they sue the homeowner and it is filed on the homeowners policy. Even if say the city furnished, maintained sidewalk is the cause of said injury. Risk mitigation

I get that he owns all of the land all around the lakes , IMHO there should have been easements set aside to get access to the public lakes. But Im not a lawyer.

So this went from an MLF comment to a political comment to a briberby comment with each rebuttal given to the OP.
The OP probably doesnt own land and realize that people trash those trails and public access points. I know this as I am a land owner and people are come up a live creek on my place from the highway and fish. I really wouldn't have any problems with this except for the trash they leave everywhere. Beer cans, bait boxes, cups burger wrappers you name it. They also start campfires in a very dry area and walk off and leave them. There is a good reason why Kroenke and other large landowners cut of access to the public. THE PUBLIC TRASHES THEIR PLACES. Not sometimes but all the time. Does the OP think the state or nation is going to send an employee around once a week or month to clean up the mess? No they don't, they leave it up to the landowner. I don't blame him one bit I have done the same and will continue to do the same.
Retirement best job ever.

Its sad but in most cases money talks.
Montana has a state law that trout fishermen can access any stream at any bridge crossing. All bridge crossings are considered legal access points. One landowner decided to block access by building fence all the way to the bridge.
A writer for Ducks Unlimited wrote several articles and challenged the wealthy landowner. As it turns out, the wealthy landowner was a big Ducks Unlimited Contributor, so DU responded by firing the writer, Don Thomas. I haven't donated a penny to DU since.

Big O, you are an angry guy but it is kinda fun to hear the constant and now very creative ways in which you complain about MLF. I hope you get over your anger issues some day and get back to fishing and enjoying life! In the mean time. rock on, it is entertaining!
See you on the lake and have a great day!
