When I get the final results, I will let you know. They were transported a pretty good round trip, how did all the fish fare? Is there permitting involved to allow the fish to be taken away from the lake? If someone put in at 66 and trailered to Sunnyvale HS that is around a 14 mile trip, one way.

No sir, no permit required. We have off site weigh ins quite regular and as long as the anglers have the wrist bands stating they are in a tournament they are fine. We also have 1000 gallon live release tanks that we use at every event with oxygen and recirculating water on them. We have a very high release rate. When I get the final results, I will let you know. They were transported a pretty good round trip, how did all the fish fare? Is there permitting involved to allow the fish to be taken away from the lake? If someone put in at 66 and trailered to Sunnyvale HS that is around a 14 mile trip, one way.

When we have an off-site weigh-in, all fish are returned to the lake from which they came via the live release tanks we have at every event, no matter where the weigh-in is held. We had game wardens and TP&W officials inspect and give their stamp of approval on our live release tank set-ups and how the fish are cared for at our events, especially at off-site weigh-ins.

What about the state's futile requirement to drain all livewells and baitwells in a boat before leaving the ramp area? Is there a permit that allows all those anglers to haul water away from the lake? (I would assume they take water to hold the fish as they drive away.) I don't care for the rule, btw. It gets in the way of taking fish home live (bluegill) for consumption. I'm just curious how that rule doesn't seem to be working there.

Straight from the TP&W manual:
“Persons participating in a fishing tournament confined to one water body are allowed to transport live fish in water from that single water body to an identified off-site weigh-in location, provided all water is drained and properly disposed of before leaving that location. Participants must possess documentation provided by tournament organizers that identify them as participants in a tournament.”
If we were doing it wrong, TP&W and game wardens would certainly let us know.
