That would be Big creek and it's probably hit or miss at best with little to no flow. It is possible that the crappie will bed up along the hard shoreline at the mouth of the creek but it might take some serious probing to find them. If you are very lucky you might line up with the whitebass roaming around the area.

That's the one thing I haven't accomplished yet. Wading and fly fishing for crappie on the main lake during the spawn. It's easy when they are pinned into a creek. Not so easy when you have no clue where to find them in shallow enough water. I see people doing it on some lakes up in north texas but I haven't ever taken the time to figure out Lake Somerville. If anyone wants to PM me with an area I might wade out an catch a few crappie with the fly rod please do so

That fishing traffic to the state park really makes or breaks the whole year as far as visitors go.. Just not enough rain...

Late post I have been stuck in Kentucky last few days and will be back home on the water late Saturday. Just before coming up here the wife wanted her own morning of fishing - and I wasn’t going to argue that battle! We hit some areas I know that have been holding just HUGE crappie for Somerville. She caught 19 that went over 1.70lbs each. Minnows in 12FOW. Call, text, PM and let’s set up a trip! R2 Fishing 979-2046722

I been catching whites along the points of Welch. It should be getting good real soon. With this week being spring break I heard there was a huge crowd out and lots of boats. Probably had fish scattered for most part.

This is about the time of year I start to head out there. Are you bank fishing or from a boat? Yea I figured it would be a waste of gas to head over there this week with all the kids partying and boating
