I think it's possible but I don't buy all the abduction stories . IMO , a civilization capable of inter-stellar travel would have the technology to keep their presence hidden from populations that weren't advanced enough for direct contact .
One of the Star Trek movies showed how the Vulcans didn't contact earth until somebody discovered a warp drive .

So cctx just how old do you think the universe is..?? Somewhere between 13 and 14 billion years old, with the first two billion just hydrogen and helium. We are probably one of the first planets to evolve sentient beings.
