They actually discuss the effects violent video games have on youth if you listen to the public radio stations while playing the game. Vice City is and will always be the best GTA!

Wait I thought the game was modeled after Chicago, not the other way around.

I played GTA all through middle school and high school. I have never stolen a car, mugged someone, stole from someone or physically fought someone.

Not yet, get back to me when you turn 40.

They are using it as a scapegoat just like the Bible thumpers did in the past

I played contra as a kid. I didn’t want to go kill anyone with a gun that shot fire bullets

For the strong minded no effects

For the weak and those who struggle with wanting to do something bad it’s real bad for those folks
You get desensitized to evil when you are around it to much. I don’t see anything good out of some of the video games but others are just entertainment for a lot of people

I think a lot like people who do pot and alcohol can do it once a week and other get hooked almost right off the bat

That's the same thing as saying that playing Call of Duty will make you a better shot.

Certainly wasn’t trying to disparage religion. Just pointing out that blaming video games like these Chicago politicians are doing isn’t much different than when religious groups blamed video games years back. Finding a scapegoat instead of addressing the real issues

As much impact as western movies and toy guns had in the 50's, 60's, and 70's. The only difference is that now instead of playing cowboys&indians outside kids play call of duty inside....or doom....or fallout...or fortnite....

I noticed that it is never the parents fault for letting them play (and buying ) these games for hours on end.

All three of my kids played it, probably still do and all three are college educated, married, employed with 2 of the group raising kids with more babies on the way. Maybe the developers need to put in some subliminal messages such as, "get a job", "marry the mother of your children", "be the man of the house", "don't do drugs or kill people".
