Did it a lot when I lived in Maine. If there was no snow on the lake we would sometimes put out a dozen "tips" and use ice skates to get one when the flag went up. When we saw it go up we would race to see who got there first and they got to bring it in. My buddy was faster than me on skates so there was always some tripping going on when we both saw it go up at the same time. We pulled some pretty big pike out of some of those small holes.

Thats a really big hole and a really long rod for ice fishing..
The big hole was to pull a big fish out of. I've caught one over 6 out of the brushpile that hole was over when the weather was better. And, I had to use what I have since this was the only opportunity I've ever had to try ice fishing in Texas. I hope this is the last time I have to cut a hole to go fishing! Awesome pics Pake! this is the coolest thing i think i will ever see and i'm into space stuff and saw the images from the Perseverance rover so...
I didn't lose him at the boat. I shook him off cause I didn't want my hands to get "fishy"

 I like the determination, Pake...I just don't hate the fish enough at a slightly more mature age to get out in that...did you remember to drop an M-Pack jig down that hole?

I tried it the other day, by the time I got the hole big enough to get my boat in i was to damned tired to fish and my hands were cold. I remember when your Dad would post pictures of you catching fish that were almost as big as you were. You are growing up to be a fine young man.
