Bad news guys. Yegua and Rocky Creek parks are closing to everyone but campers. No shore fishing at all. Also the boat ramps are closing to the public entirely as of This coming October. Really bad news for kayak fisherman, as this effectively cuts off that whole corner of the lake, unless you feel like paddling over from Overlook park. https://kwhi.com/changes-taking-pla...6697310198cac97b0618921bf#comment-129402

Seems like a benefit to a few at the expense of many. Public access is already limited so things like this can really have a negative impact for those of us trying to enjoy the outdoors.

Any of you yakers around the BCS looking to get on whites/crappie in creeks you can PM me.
Water has gotten low enough we boaters can’t get into specific areas I know they’re holding in. No bank access allowed either.
**Not Somerville**

There are 9 boat ramps on Somerville. Still plenty of access to go. Now the low water in the lake may make some more difficult to use.

Also, it can take 45 minutes to an hour to drive to the other side of that lake.

Boy did I pick the wrong week to take pto from work... The good news is that it's raining here right now but it won't last long and I'm all the way down in hockley/Cypress.... Wondering how far I need to drive to get some decent fishing in. I'm definitely not going to waste my time driving to saltwater after the fish kill from the freeze... 😔. Any update on Newman's? This is a bummer.

West Bay is still doing fine. You just now have all the Matagorda guys there fishing 😡 If you got a boat - head to Gibbons Creek. We’re SMOKING them over there Not my pic - another guide friend ended his trip with 5 guys on 125 fish I have this weekend available for trips if anyone is interested.

I'm hoping the State Parks discontinue the use of this reservation/time slot system and it is not something that is here to stay indefinitely. It's difficult for most to plan a visit weeks/months in advance. Fingers crossed it is only temporary.

On track to a fully automated system.. OH BOY! Probably run out of an India call center.. you know the one next to the call center for your cars warranty, next to the prince of kastanskabob that has 10 million dollars he needs to give to you.. next to the call center that needs to fix your bugged computer verified by your SSN and tax refund status... and on and on it goes.. Why do we do this? What problem is being solved?

Was quite a few whitebass fisherman along the Birch point today.
I spent couple hours on the water to enjoy the day solo before I have to leave for Ft Knox. Water temp was 58°
Crappie have really picked up - every brush pile was holding fish. Whitebass bite is picking up- was able to tie into good school this morning.
Everything came off livebait a today; fishing 8ft to 16ft of water

Whitebass and Crappie have moved into a specific creek on Sville. This creek is on the NNE side of the lake.. good luck I’ll let you guys try to find out which creek 🤐😁
It’s about a ft - ft and half at the mouth. Boats are push pulling in yaks can make it. And is land/hiking accessible.
