Never hurts. My shop (unheated) will stay around 45 on a 20 degree night. Several days of single digit and teens it may be a different story.

yes, needs to drain the prop and water pump.

if it has been sitting with it up and shop is not heated you should put a 100 watt light close to it till you are sure the water is all out.
if it is in the exhaust area in front of the prop and freezes hard it can crack the lower, if it is frozen in there now it needs to thaw/drain.

or so I heard. grin

If you turn your beer fridge down it will warm your shop. I think it was Bill Nye the Science Guy that said that

You sir are in compliance with the dreaded mussel regulations in addition to heading off cracked boat parts.

June, pull the hose of the back of the water pressure gauge too and drain it. They are notorious for freezing and breaking.

Lived in Kansas for 9 years. Owned a boat for 8 of the 9. Only thing I did to winterize was fog the motor and tilt it down. Never flushed livewells or disconnected speedometer hoses and yet every year we got plenty of sub zero weather. Never an issue.
