Nobody here knows the REAL reason it wasn’t being played? You all just jump up and down crying, with none of the facts? Perfect.
The reason it wasn’t being played was due to no fans being at the games. Now that the fans are being allowed back, in limited numbers, it will be policy again. They missed it by one game. That’s true. But it isn’t some big communist agenda. The national anthem is pretty much for the fans. It isn’t shown in tv coverage, hence the reason to omit it during the fanless games.

Historically, the National Anthem was played at sporting events to show unity and national spirit. As soon as the National Anthem became a target to be politicized, or for that matter, commercialized by pro sports leagues that frankly don’t really deserve the association, it should have immediately been stopped because all it does now is divide us and give protestors a chance to disrespect it. Bottomline, we’re there to watch or play a game. We’re not playing or watching the game to fight a war, debate movements, or politics. In cybersecurity the best way to mitigate a risk is to not have the risk there in the first place. Same goes with sports and the National Anthem. Cuban gets it. Just play ball… As someone that played high school and college sports, I think all the leagues should have a Carrie Underwood type of song to kick things off. Let the protesters kneel during Carrie’s song - no one will notice or care… For the outdoor championship games, I'm all for having a flyover. Again, everyone's looking up and you could care less if anyone is kneeling during it.

You give an inch on the anthem, next thing you know there’ll be no more skinny, scantily clad, hot ring girls at prize fights. We can’t have that Blue Moon!

This must be either a poorly executed publicity stunt or exactly what he planned. Either way; he’s a grandstanding egomaniac blowhard.
He’s entitled to his opinion, but the Mavericks are not his toy. The heart and soul of the team belong to the players, the coach, and the city.

Is it really that important to have the anthem played at professional sporting events? It never really made sense to me anyway. Yes, it is. Why so?

Actually he explains why he isn't playing it, and has nothing to do with no fans being in attendance. It is all about social justice. Pure BS all the way around. People feel the anthem doesn't represent them so he stopped playing it to appease a bunch of clowns. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXaYk-i95nsYou should get some facts right before you call people out for not getting the facts.

Those are the facts. As it pertained to every team. Not just the Mavericks. What he is saying is HIS excuse/explanation. It isn’t WHY why it was omitted lately.

I would want my grandkids to recite a Carrie Underwood type of poem.
