Not sure if Garmin does it, but Lowrance can add/delete wypts through nmea. It’s not as good and both graphs have to be turned on for it to work; but again, that’s Lowrance.

You can also save wypts to a sd card and import them, seems like a PITA to me though. If you don’t want to spend the money, I’d find a used one.

You do realize that NMEA2000 is a network? Yes, you're correct that Lowrance units with NMEA2000 network support can share waypoints if the network is implemented.

Yes I comprehend that nmea is a network, but compared to an Ethernet network, it is antiquated. But point being above, I don’t know if Garmin can wypt through their nmea. I’m thinking they cannot.

That's not in the budget. This boat is for fishing high school tournaments and we have about $500 - $700 to spend. Trying to see if I should get the ECHOmap or striker series. Seeing if networking is worth getting the small screen

I hate to be the bearer of bad news....but 500-700 isnt gonna get you a networked set up....from anyone. These units are so ridiculously priced since its so few of us buying them (freshwater stuff at least) that anything under 1000 is a "budget unit" as stupid as that sounds. If you really want/need networking might wanna look used older gen stuff....i honestly wouldnt go that route personally.

Again...hate to be the guy that recommends something "only" a few hundred more....cuz that always annoyed me when I was searching. $300 is chump change to sum...not to me. Its not a huge chunk...but $300 can put a lot of meals on the table, so i get that. BUT....if its at all possible....save up to $1000 to get the Ti2 from lowrance with the 3 in 1 ducer. No it wont be networked and its only a single unit....but you dont need a unit up front to catch them unless you just video game fish. John Cox wasnt running bow graphs back in the day and he was still smashing them....hes a wizard...but it shows its doable.

I like lowrance for budget units...purely off personal opinion and research. I got a Ti2 at my bow and a helix 12 at my console...did a lot of studying and researching before coming to that combo

I retract my Ti recommendation LOL 🤦‍♂️

Just hit the lowrance site to link you....and I just remembered the axed the Ti2 (LITERALLY BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK UNIT OUT THERE...and them axing it so quick proves it 😂) for the Elite FS! They also upped the price of the 9 inch unit from $1000 to $1200. Thats really really up therre...and getting close to helix territory imo.

My lowrance budget comment still stands though. Not gonna be as good as the Ti2 with 3 in 1 ducer....but the newest gen hooks look pretty good. Maybe look there...and get the biggest unit you can. Hate to admit it...but for sure size matters. The bigger units i fell help you be efficient on the water too since you arent squinting to spot stuff and can just give it a good look over.

I ended up going with the Garmin Vivid 9sv. Got it for $499 at Academy. I think we can share the waypoints through the ActiveCaptain app, but if not, oh well. Now to get it mounted tonight and prefish Granbury on Saturday for his tournament the 13th

post a review after you run it a few times. Never even heard of that model...which isnt surprising since the FS snuck up on me too! these damn companies really do change it all up yearly so you feel like your tech is old! LOL

Be sure you level the transducer right...and youll get some good returns regardless of unit. Im sold the difference is the crispness and target separation as you go up in price on the units. Which is huge....but if you know what youre looking at, the difference isnt as big of a deal and more of a luxury (imo). Youtube "on the water transducer level" so you can do it the right way...in case you havent installed one in the past. Fish the moment is also an amazing free resource to learn electronics. Blasphemy but I like his electronic vids even more than I like TacticalBassin's stuff...and im a TB fanboy! 😂
