I even remember leaving a walkie talkie type radio in the truck at night with another by my bedside. So when there was a bang on the door I would hear it (usually around 2a - 3a).

I have seen truck owners remove the drivers side handle and key locking mechanism and replace it with a passenger side electric only handle. But, then you still have the easily bypassable ignition system problem.

Hidden kill switch, or just pull and remove the fuel pump relay every time you leave the vehicle, then reinsert it every time are the easiest solutions. Steering wheel club and wheel/tire claw/club with anti theft lug nuts are other easy solutions.

Damn, if they want my truck that bad, just let them have it. I'm not messing with all that. When I buy my F250, I'm going to upgrade the alarm and call it good.

The steering wheel club and anti theft lug nuts are easily bypassed in seconds if you have a tool or two and some know-how. They may deter a crackhead, but not the pro who is capable of chopping up a truck like the dude that got Moto's buddy.

Alarms are worthless. They will either just pull the alarm fuse or pop the hood and cut one wire.

Pet rattle cotton viper on the passenger seat is very effective though

True, but the vast majority of thieves will take the path of least resistance. If they see anything that will slow them down, even by 30 seconds, they'll just go to the next vehicle.

Most modern vehicles (after 2013) have active gps on the onboard computer logging location and all kinds of data at all times.

I was looking forward to watching it...but it said upfront that the video wasn’t for the criminally minded. frown

I don't think they did. I think they went to pull them over and they took off.

I used to travel through that area on a regular basis. And others down south.
I remember several times passing BP's as much as 15 - 20 mph over the speed limit. I was talking to one of them at a stop station and told him about it.
He simply said "We know what we're looking for".

When mine got stolen the Detective said they have a code reader/scrambler that they can put up to that key pad entry and unlock the truck. Unfortunately they found where my spare key was hidden inside the cab and just drove off. Found it a few days later in pancake house parking lot next door to the hotel we were staying at. No damage done just everything missing inside.
