I was always under the impression steel runs dirty in the long run, while brass is cleaner, requiring much less gun cleaning. I've recently found a good supply of steel (9MM) and have bought up a few rounds, (times is tuff). Now, I'm beginning to wonder if I made a mistake.
Please discuss.

It's the type/grade of the powder that makes a gun dirtier, not the casing.
May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

Yes it is dirtier. But you should be in the habit of cleaning your gun after every use, so really not that big of a deal.
Supposedly some guns get jammed with the least bit of sediment, and therefore don't perform well with the steel. This is probably more relative to AR15s than any pistols. I have never had any experience with that though.

I never put a gun back in the safe after it has been fired, even a hunting rifle that only gets fired once. Any of that gunk you leave in the barrel or action can cause corrosion over time. When you are talking about corrosion, the only difference in 1 round fired vs 100 is how much oil you have protecting the steel.

Most of my handguns seem to stovepipe a lot more if I use steel. I do my best to stick to brass, but in these times might as well shoot whatever you can get your hands on.

My glock doesn’t like steel- That’s all I got- i think that happened to my buddies also I had two jams while shooting behind the house a while back, never had that happen before nor since- The 2 times were from the same box, but I gave the rest of them away and won’t buy steel again- I have no idea why it happened l, just don’t want to have it happen again #nomoresteel.

Doesn't steel casings have some sort of lacquer coating on them? I heard this can be cause of some firearms not liking steel.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Steel is more porous and therefore more sticky than the brass.

Tul is the ammo in question, it's made in Russia.
I failed to mention earlier steel may wear out the striker quicker than brass. Might just show up with the stuff at the Ft. Worth gun show this weekend and trade/sell it off...dunno.
Then again, I may keep it and report back with issues if/when we start to use it.
