 Who pays the highest property taxes in Texas?

Just curious. I just paid $5,107 in Polk County. Who's getting screwed more than me for all these kids' free lunches?

This will vary with the value of your house and location. Better perhaps to compare property tax rates for each city, municipality. There is the city rate and then there is the County tax rates. Some cities have more than 1 county contained or portioned. At age 65 you get a Homestead exemption on your taxes!  Any deductions are always welcomed !

I am at 10K per year, and that's with disputing and fighting my appraisal each year Ouch, that hurts to pay I'm sure. Out here in Hays county, we are at $1.79 per 100. Still too darn high.

Between the city, ISD & county we're at 2.553728 per $100.00 in Wichita Falls.

When posting these quips you must also post you state income tax rate. 5%, but my state income tax liability goes up and down based on my wages. Can't say the same about the Texas Wealth Tax. Plus when I retire in three years my state income tax goes to zero. SS income and the first 24k from a 401k is non taxable in Alabama. A recent article I read said Texas ranked #9 in the number of people who moved out of state after they retire. A good example are my friends in Oak Point. His wife who is 66, retired Jan 1st. He is 58 and the house is in his name only. Their property taxes will continue to increase even though their income has decreased.
He is truly a sick individual.
