Always didn't like jamming eyes into the end of tubes. Removed everything, use sleeves or bare. Can stack numerous rods in boxes and retrieve with minimum problems.

I like the way Skeeter solved it with their new mega rod tubes. Great solution.

All you guys that took them out, do you use sleeves or nothing or what? And do you leave the butt end holder in or just lay them all on top of each other? Sleeves at all times. And yes leave the back in if you want to. Yep. All out and use sleeves.

The thing I've found rod tubes to be best at is pulling the one-footed guides off my rods.

And yes leave the back in if you want to. I'm undecided whether to take the back one out or not. If I sell this boat in the future, the new owner may want them in. If I decide this is my "forever boat" (is there really such a thing?), then I may consider cutting the back holder out. Bassman, in my other boats I used sleeves and reel covers (only on the expensive reels generally). I could easily get 30 rods in one rod box. The Eyra, because of the shape of the bottom of the rod box is probably not gonna hold that many but I've got 16 in there now. That should be plenty.

My z20 has had no issues with the tubes. Even after smashing into my truck going 60 mph

Turn the rod guides side down when putting in the tubes. I never thought of taking them off.

I damaged too many eyes with my rod tubes. Also was limited in my boat to storing about 8 rods with the tubes.
I removed the tubes and used the weaved rod socks.
Those are find for standard guides, but my microguides kept punching through and then I would damage them when removing the sleeve.
I eventually went to the neoprene rod socks. I've been using them for about 2-3 years now and haven't damaged a guide since. I purchased mine from RodWarrior USA and it is the only sleeve/sock I will use from here on.
I now have 18 combos in my small rod box. It can be a pain to get rods at the bottom, but nothing is tangled, and my rods don't get damaged anymore.
