I feel like the creeks where bank access is available is often overfished. You can try the ponds over at North Lakes. I know they stock them with channel cats and probably others.

I would go out on a limb and say dfw area has some of the biggest cats in tx. I live in denton too. One great spot from land in the spring and summer is crescent oaks boat ramp. Bait is easy to get there with a castnet and I have caught many cats out of that area well over 50 lbs.
