Thanks for the information on braid and reels. I have done some of your suggestions. I respooled tighter and put tape on spool in two different locations. This has helped but still digs in some. I think the slick 8 might be some of problem. I have used 40# Gliss for years and love the castablity but it is not abrasion resistant.

I’ve tried almost every braid. Slick 8. J8 are too slick and for whatever reason they catch a ton more wind than the rougher braids like power pro etc. I’ve got a huge pile of braid spools to unload at a swap meet.

Not a spool expert although I did stay at a Holiday Inn last week.....but my analytical brain says it’s the shape of your “V Spool” causing the problem.

Most braid will dig into the spool. I fish a bait exclusively on 30# braid and after a hookset or hanging up. I have to get it past that point of the pull.

I have had issues with braid 50# and less digging into itself when pulled hard. I mostly use 65-70 (8 strand) on a baitcaster.
