We need a TV.
Finally got a maximum from wifey on what we would spend on a TV and we're looking at up to $1,000.
Not shooting to spend that much, just saying that is the max we would spend.

I haven't measured to be certain, but I'm pretty sure next TV will be 60 - 65 inch an will hang on our wall. (current one is on the wall and would guess it to be 50 inch)
Not a big TV family. Meaning that we watch some TV in the morning (news) and a little in the evening before bed.
Main TV time is for sports & movies.
We do have google home around the house.
Not used for video games. Used for TV watching.
Currently have DirectTV

LED, OLED, 4k, 8K, Smart, Roku, Chromecast......
I'm not sure what I'm looking at.

What kind of TV am I looking to purchase?
Give some good advice so that I look like a electronics guru to the wife

A lot to consider for sure, you should be ok at under a $1000, but not much

check out Costco they have great prices and a good selection. The guys in the tv section in my experience will help you pick what's right for your home and use. Back in September, we bought a 65" Samsung for around $450, with a 5 year warranty.

Don't forget to consider other costs or is it just $1,000.00 for the TV itself?:
Will the old wall mount bracket work on the new TV?
Will there be any tech upgrade/difference for DirectTV between old TV and new one?
Will you want a soundbar?

I have a LG Nano TV and I like it. Easy to use apps, no need for roku or any other plug in devices and the Magic Remote is one of my favorite things about it.

Now get ready for 100 other suggestions.

I bought a 65" Vizio w/ Chromecast from Sam's about a year ago and it's been great. Also have a smaller Vizio in my bedroom that's several years old and haven't had a bit of trouble with either. ROKU and Chromecast are good if you want it connected to the internet to stream shows. OLED is typically brighter but their screens have a shorter life-span while LED has a longer life and in my opinion, is the way to go. 4K is pretty standard these days but not everything is there yet and 8K is cutting edge with even fewer ways to take advantage of that just yet.

Don't over complicate it. This day in age, pretty much any TV is good. Unless you are a tech junkie, you probably will not notice the difference between all the other options. Get a smart TV that you like the look of. Size matters. You will probably never regret having a bigger TV, just so long as it fits on the wall or piece of furniture where you want it.

This is worth the $60 membership. I’m told NFM a also has good selection and pricing.
