Derek, who do you use for your soil test? What is the turnaround time? I need to get fert down soon. Not sure if I can get test results back in time. Thanks!

Waypoint SW1 test. Cost like $27.00 and a very quick turnaround. You typically have your results 24-48 hours after they receive your sample via email. They will call you when they get your sample for CC payment. I start fertilizing next weekend so you have time. Get your sample sent out this week and you'll have results early next. https://www.waypointanalytical.com/...udesSWandSCpackagesWestern-Tennessee.pdf

Got my soil results back from A&M and the soil is a bit out of whack. What dry fertilizer should I look for to apply their recommended application?

That's about as simple as a 1-1-1 program as you can get. Your true P number is probably closer to 8. Your Ph is lower than I would have expected, but that's a good thing. Using Ammonium Sulfate at your nitrogen source will get you nitrogen and sulfur. APF Corp 13-13-13 would be a good one. Here is a pic of the label. Depending you your turf type and applications you want to make. It would be a pretty simple game plan for you this year.

Excellent choice! Not loaded questions, just curious. Turf type, app rate, how often?

Turf is St. Augustine with Bermuda mixed in, Applying 7 lbs. of the 13-13-13 per 1000sqft twice a year.

You're about 7lbs low at that rate. Using St. Aug as the example. I would target 0.5lbs of N per month April-Oct. Nitrogen is the bus driver and attach everything else to that. Using Triple 13 that would be 3 to 3.5lbs per 1000 per month for a total of 21-25lbs for the year per 1000. I don't prefer to front load 2 or 3 heavy app rates per year. Divide out what you need to apply and do it the first weekend of every month. Or even take it a step further and divide it again and do it every two weeks. I know most won't do that, so go monthly. Appling multiple apps at a lower rate is much better than applying a lot at once a couple times a year. Disease pressure isn't real high right now. But I would get an app of Scotts Disease EX down this weekend to stay ahead of it, specially if you have St. Aug. https://www.greencastonline.com/tools/pestoutlooks.aspx

Thanks Derek, much appreciated. I thought it sounded a bit low on the Nitrogen. There is a footnote at the bottom of the analysis page about adding an additional 1 lb per 1000sqft of nitrogen during the late summer application, but I was a bit confused as to whether that was in addition to the .8lb per 1000sqft or instead of it. I think I'll roll with your advice and divide the applications up evenly. Already purchased the Disease EX and plan on spreading it this weekend. Got caught off guard last year and lost a good bit of grass to Gray Spot mid summer. p.s. here is a link to a pretty good fertilizer calculator on the A&M site Fertilizer Calculator

I use the labs recs just to get a base line that I need to add more P or K. My nitrogen never changes. St Aug/Zoysia I would target 0.25-0.50lb of N a month. Bermuda 0.50-1lb a month. Then I'll adjust my number values to go with what P/K I need. 13-13-13, 15-5-10 and so on. Thanks for the calculator I like that one. The exception to applying monthly nitrogen. If you see gray leaf spot shut your fertilizing down and get it under control. Nitrogen can/will make that issue worse. NC State has a great website for turf diseases and control. See the fourth column down. Combo of azoxystrobin + propiconazole is an ++++ control. That would be a combo of Scotts Disease Ex and Bio Advance linked below. Applied at the curative rate. https://www.turffiles.ncsu.edu/diseases-in-turf/gray-leaf-spot-in-turf/https://www.lowes.com/pd/BAYER-ADVA...jw1iEAQYASABEgLP3_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
