The Yegua is about a foot above normal and flowing pretty hard. I went to Newman Bottom yesterday and today and tried a few spots. Not a bite though. I talked to half a dozen people and none of them got a bite either.

Being that the lake is over 2.5 foot low, would the fish even be able to make it into the creek from the main lake?

According to a notebook I keep, the last major white bass run up Cedar creek was spring 2017. It would be nice with lots more rainfall to get runs up other creeks than Yegua to ‘spread out’ the fishing pressure and permit other opportunities. (IMO)
It was a different world when we were boys and girls....

TXfisherman12, it's a blast when you can find the white bass running in the smaller creeks. It never lasts though. And if you hear that the white bass are running in one of the smaller creeks it's too late. You should have been there yesterday. You really have to hit it just right. But when and if you hit it, it can be epic.
The only Somerville creek that really has a sustained white bass spawn is the Yegua. When and if it floods, the fish can be up there for months.

The main lake it 2.5ft below pool. The water level in the main lake in the cove where Nails and Yegua come into the lake is extremely shallow. Nails creek is almost completely silted in at this water level. Yegua isn't much better. I don't think the the creek is even connects to the main lake right now and if it is, the water is not more than an inch deep. The mouth of the creek is nothing more than a big mud flat. Even with the recent rains the lake only came up a few inches overall. We really need a substantial rain to bring the lake level up or the creek runs will not happen. The lake has been well below pool since August. Any fish that are in the creek right now are residents and not spawn migrators. I could be flat out wrong, but from what I've seen out there, I wouldn't expect much from Yegua, Nails, or Birch this year.
If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.
In a world of compromise.....Some don't.

We hauled several limits out of cedar in 2019. Water was muddy as all get out but some how they could see that small jig and bite it. It was blast, big fish at that... Cedar creek is all about timing. When it is on, it's on big time. But it only last a few days...

Now that the ground is soaked and stock tanks are full, one good rain is all it takes to bring up Somerville. So don't count your eggs until the chickens hatch. LOL It's never over until it's over. Come on rain...

Agreed. It's not happening right now, but one or two good rains in January or February and we could easily be back in business. Until then I'm looking for backup options.

I had a trip on Cedar Creek that I will never forget several years back. Walked along the banks with J-Moe & Hook,Line&Sinker, and must have caught and released about 50 fish. I don't think we saw another person the entire time. It was one of those days. Everything was working.

2 to 3 inch rain in the right place and it will happen. According to J-Moe, the Yegua is running good, so any run off would go to filling up the lake.

Reimers water is looking pretty good jsinn01. One of my cousins was out there a week ago snapping some pictures and I could see the river in the back ground. It looks real good right now. To long of a drive for me these days, think it takes like two hours to get there from my place. And you need waders or a yak to have best access to the fish.

Thanks for the update on Reimers, fishytx. I'll have to take a drive out there soon to check things out. Also, I need to practice up on the fly rod as I watched J-Moe do really well with this method last year on the Perdernales.

They must be releasing water from Lake Somerville, because on Dec. 31 2020 the lake level was higher than it is today. I'm pretty sure I read the chart correctly.

Yeah, could be. That chart is generally very accurate.
