I did a paper once in college, working on a masters in marketing, about the fund raising power of churches and religious denominations. As I researched all of that I was amazed at just how much money churches have and control...all courtesy of their parishioners. And not one bit of it taxed in any way. Churches own vast amounts of land and properties worth millions. And the so-call "leaders" are living very well. It was all about the fund raising message and how the more successful ones presented it. I don't want to necessarily piss anybody off here that has a religious bent ....but I have little respect for many the leaders of the major churches and denominations we have in this country. To a person they were some of the biggest hustlers you can imagine....and many of them are still known today.

I was always skeptical about religion and the messages put forth and how I saw the preachers spouting on Sunday and hustling people on Monday. I do not recall from my brief exposure to church when I was young that the Bible said collect money for yourself, create a religion that controls people and will torture them if they don't go along with some dudes edicts from some city in Rome. If even a third of the money that was collected and spent on the biga** churches you see around this country was spent on helping people it would go a long way to fulfilling the edict of helping your brother....not picking his pocket in the name of religion.

I'm sure I may have offended some folks so I will apologize in advance.... but having researched and investigated the religious organizations in this country I came away with a very jaded opinion of them and religion in general. Frankly we should be taxing the cr^^ out of them and stop the free ride they get.

Techfisher write all the papers you want. It’s never, ever about religion, it’s a about a personal relationship with Christ.
If you don’t understand or read scripture, you will be mislead your entire life.

Very well spoken and I consider quite accurate. I'm not a "religious" person by any means, but I love and believe what Jesus Christ did for me. I'm extremely skeptical of those who profit so significantly from preaching the Gospel - which is free to all if they simply open a bible, read it, believe it, and live it.

Years ago, I owned a house in the Shores CC in Rockwall. My neighbor and his wife always had the coolest cars and toys and vacationed at all the cool destinations. We were at a gathering and I learned he was the comptroller of Church on the Rock. It was a business, not what I considered a church. Taxing churches and their assets is long overdue, IMO.

He’s got black eyes, like a doll’s eyes. When it comes at you it doesn’t seem to be livin’....until he bites you, and those black eyes roll over white.

Did you NOT read my opening post? Our church has been around since ‘53 and struggling to pay its bills even with all the tithings it receives, you think taxing will be necessary because of a few wolves in sheep’s clothing?

He's also beady-eyed. Never trust a beady-eyed person especially when they have that all-knowing smirk.

If churches support political parties/candidates in any manner, they should be taxed. Separation of church and state is very important and a cornerstone of the nation's founding. It is being tested more and more.
