One more vote for 20 lb yellow braid. I use kastking from Amazon. Be careful with jig heads that aren't fully closed in the eye.

I had a look at the braid. It’s Power Pro 8# in moss green. I’ll rig up a reel or two tomorrow and try it out in the pond. Next time I’m on the lake we’ll see if the crappie bite. I can always add a leader. And now that I have Spot Lock, the wind can’t blow me down the lake while the wife gives me a hard time about losing her fishing spot as I rig up lines.
So, what about the braid when looking for sunfish? Are they smarter than crappie, or will it not matter? The sunfish didn’t seem to have a problem with green mono, which is thicker than the moss green braid.

I use power pro super slick 8 - 15 lb tied to a small, black swivel....then I tied my double jig rig on fluorocarbon on 12" and 20" leaders to the swivel.....not because they are line shy at all...because it eliminated line twist

When they're hungry, doesn't matter. I don't use a leader, never have.

I take a black marker and color my line. It makes a difference for me.

Champion, I must be missing something? You color your line black, or mark for desired depth? Or what?

When they're hungry, doesn't matter. I don't use a leader, never have. Well i use a leader all the time !!!!! It runs from the jig to the spool arbor!!!!! !
I would agree with you , but then we would both be WRONG !!!!!

I use 20# Suffix neon green and I use a 12# flouro leader. I think the leader is a matter of confidence....but that matters too.

No leader for me but you will need to tie a palomar knot as others will slip

No leader for me but you will need to tie a palomar knot as others will slip Okay what am I missing here? I use a loop knot and it certainly will not slip. But I have had 15# braid slip thru the gap in an unpainted jig eye. Is that what you are referring to?

I rigged up all the rods and reels today that were to get braid. Had to learn a couple of new knots. Braid is slippery, like you guys said. Now I want to go fishing, but too cold and windy.

I just purchased some 8lb gold KastKing braid. I'm looking forward to giving it a try. It does past the eye test but I need to try it out on the water. No leader for me.
