They will pick up and swim with it and sometimes swallow it just let them load the pole good.
Squid is pretty cheap at the Asian market and better than throwing a castnet when it’s 30 degrees 🤣 I have heard you can also buy fresh carp at Asian markets.....is that correct? I have none near me, and was wanting to ask someone that may have first hand knowledge.

The one I go to in Houston has live Koi Carp you can’t take them out alive so the just hit them in the head with a mallet. Good and fresh .
