Honestly, I might be shooting myself in the foot here, but if you go to La Cantera and speak with the head pro (dress nice...it wouldn't hurt to play a round after you see him) and just ask if it would be possible. I know the kids that work out there are "allowed" to fish the ponds.
Many golf pro's like to fish, and as long as you respect the course, and come at first light or right before dark (when no golfers are around) they're more apt to let you in.
Great fishing out there, and several ponds that I'd kill to have access to 24-7.

Try Hidden Lake Apartments on 1604, inside the loop, just East of Bandera Road. Go after 5pm...the office is closed...and you can park in the first spaces you come to. You're supposed to be with a resident, but they don't seem to care.

we went to hidden lake a while back and caught about 5 fish with the largest being about 6 inches long. Are there bigger fish in that lake? Also hard to get to any bank where you can fan cast, Lots of brush around the shore. And dont wear shorts if you go!!!

Yeah, no kidding...the brush will wear you out. The largest that I've caught is about 12 inches, but I've heard of a five pounder from there. It is hard to fish...thought about taking my waders next time!

I personally think you could slay 'em on hidden lake if you dropped in a jon boat and fished some of the islands and more densely overgrown banks. Pretty much very limited when in comes to bank access. However, I do think that if the water level ever dropped like 3 feet, then you could fish from any part of the lake you wanted, and have plenty of casting room in front of the brush. Anyone have any idea how deep it gets out there. From what I can tell from the bank and casting out, it only seems about 5 or 6 foot deep. So if the water level dropped 3 feet, then you could probably wade out and sight fish!

Hey all,
Just a quick update to the Hidden Lake Pond. Went there Saturday (14 Mar 2020) evening after reading this post. I can say that it was an exciting 2 hours with the largest being 3 lbs 10 oz. I was the only person there for the first hour, one person showed up around 630 or so for a little while. First time there and needless to say I'm looking forward to my next visit. The best part is its on my side of town which makes the drive a total of about 14 minutes (including traffic). Best of luck to all in your fishing adventures.
