If it will benefit politicians and their families then it's probably going to happen.
Politics in this Country have gotten that simple.
They're not worried about any of us and haven't been for a loooong time!
Problem is we can't vote on any legislation directly so here we are.......along for the ride.
That pretty much sums it up.

so are the banks that secured and offered the loans just SOL The banks didn't secure the loans. Even back before the government took over the student loans in Obama's years the Federal Government backed/secured the loans. The banks are going to get paid for it.

Oh No! It's the taxpayer, cause that's the only place the government can get money.

Go to an Ivy League school to get brainwashed into hating America, get $100,000 student loan, then get it forgiven by the country you hate. Then vote to raise the taxes on the people who will have to pay your dept.
Makes total sense to me. A $100,000 wouldn’t cover the first year at an Ivy League school.

Agree with most, you borrowed it so you pay it back. Lots of life altering decisions were made because of student debt. I for one did not go to college and went right into the work force while all my friends went to Texas Tech or ATM. My parents didn’t have that kind of money and I knew what would happen on the other side of graduation.
Still feel like I made the right decision for me.

Big college degrees and some are still to stupid to see that they will still be paying for that loan. There will be more "free" college for them to pay for with their taxes. If we are going to forgive loans, let me go buy a boat, truck, house, and all the toys I want and let's get that paid for.

Undergraduate and graduate degrees are investment decisions and there is a wide spectrum of ROI depending on the field of study and the school. The best long-term solution to the student loan problem is to get the government out of the business and make the schools a guarantor to the bank, so if the student defaults the school is on the hook to the bank. That will force the schools to quit offering worthless degree programs.

Restructure their individual loans (interest rate, length of time to pay, etc.). Loan forgiveness is not the answer and will not be acceptable to the majority of Americans.
