My local Academy had the Berkley Trout Bait- Yellow for $4.99 a jar. I counted six jars. This was yesterday. Could not find any Super Duper Lures. I did see the Panther Martin Gold Trout Lures in stock.

I called ahead to my local Walmart and Academy. No Berkley Trout Baits or Super Duper Lures in stock. FYI.

So are there still trout the day after stocking? I'm wondering if it's worth it for me to go out. I have done very good the day after a stocking. Depending on how many times a water body get's stocked. If it is several times you can usually do good a week after the stocking.

Newbie to fishing stocked trout:
1. I assume the best time to be there is the day they stock - what time do they usually stock?
2. Since they are raised in hatcheries is best bait some form of roe or trout feed?
3. Prefer to use the fly rod with small flies, but suspect light weight spinning rod with bait that mimics what they are fed in the hatchery may out perform - thoughts? As long as it isn't like when TPWD stocked Chisolm Park with catfish the last time, the day of, and a few days later should be good.

So are there still trout the day after stocking? I'm wondering if it's worth it for me to go out. On the Guadalupe River up by the Trail Race of Canyon Lake I can usually get a limit of Trout starting day one of the stocking. I can go any day after that and usually limit out easily.

Not sure many noticed, but the trout stocking on the Canyon Tailrace begans 04 Dec, however, if you click on the teardrop, you will see something that may upset a lot of folks who crowd Huaco Springs hours before the stocking. Not sure if this is a typo or not. "Free public access will be offered at Camp Huaco December 7 - March 7."
