Check with James @ FLT and the locals before fishing in Mexican waters. I haven’t been since the summer but reports indicate it’s not safe right now.

You could stop by Choke Canyon on your way to Falcon. Lots off Hydrilla and hard woods to flip those jigs in. Of course the cold weather will knock that hydrilla out so don't count on it being there in late December. Zapata has some of the best mexican food on the planet, not to mention a chicken fried steak from "El Rincon" with cheese gravy that will blow your socks off.
