I tried mine out today for the first time too. Same problem. 1.5 slinky weights, so I doubt lowering the weight will correct it.

I pulled 2 oz slinky weights with 1 lb baits today and mine pulled great. I was pulling .5-.6 mph with the trolling motor. I had to jockey the boards quite a bit to get em out there though. Planer boards are easy to use but difficult to master. It took me 3 trips to figure out how to use them but it took 5 yrs to really get em figured out. It is a symphony of chaos with 6 planer boards out and 2 long lines when those rods star getting slammed.

El Gato Azul wanted to say thanks I got my parks planer boards they work like a dream. I put smaller weights on the spread em boards and they worked to made three drifts on Ray Roberts. Put a couple teenagers a 20 and a 24 before wind blew me off the lake. All fish were off planers. Thanks again for your help. All fish were put back.
