I got a set of planer boards in a couple weeks ago. I am having trouble getting them to spread out from the rear of the boat. Is there a trick to it I can speed up and they go out just fine but wanting to drift at .5 mph but the just stay behind boat speed up to 1 mph and they go out just fine. Is that the trick speed up get them out then slow back down. I tried mine out today for the first time too. Same problem. 1.5 slinky weights, so I doubt lowering the weight will correct it.

I pulled 2 oz slinky weights with 1 lb baits today and mine pulled great. I was pulling .5-.6 mph with the trolling motor. I had to jockey the boards quite a bit to get em out there though. Planer boards are easy to use but difficult to master. It took me 3 trips to figure out how to use them but it took 5 yrs to really get em figured out. It is a symphony of chaos with 6 planer boards out and 2 long lines when those rods star getting slammed.

Put a couple teenagers a 20 and a 24 before wind blew me off the lake. All fish were off planers. Thanks again for your help. All fish were put back.
