I was raised not far from the lake and remember seeing Johns Creek ramp so full rigs were parked in the ditch. Used to wear the bass and crappie out. They initially pulled the lake down to add rip rap to the dam if I remember right. That combined with sending water to Lavon, and the silt that the lake catches have put a hurting on the bass. There’s still a few in there, just have to find them.

I live almost on it down near the dam its somewhere in the neighborhood of 3.5 feet low, that leaves a lot of really shallow shoals around points and the back end of the lake so be careful when you are running it. It's mostly a striper, hybrid striper, sand bass, catfish lake. The lake fluctuates so bad because of all the shallow flats that exist that I think largemouth bass have a really tough time reproducing and having cover to live in to exist in it. T,P, & W did put 250k largemouth fingerlings in it a little over a year ago. I set out to prove it still had to have some bass in it this past spring and fished the upper end of the lake quiet a bit this spring during the spawn time and I don't think I ever got a bite. The lake was high most of the spring so it made it pretty tough. when the lake gets high they open the flood gates down at the dam and draw it down in a week or two to pool stage this was going on during spawn so it made locating where the fish would be extremely tough.

Senko9s was dead on. The road bed fishing next to the islands could be stupid. Catch a fish on almost every cast.
The other interesting thing was the verified spawn on the tree limbs. If a lake silts up so often fish either spawn on limbs or rock. What happens when an aging lake starts dropping trees? Only the shallow lay downs are usable. The deep lay downs wouldn’t have enough light penetration for the eggs.
