So what's the consensus of the group? Is it true everything down there has worms regardless of size? To quote my physiology Professor " All God's creations got worms " I 've seen them in Large Mouth Bass and crappie also , so it is not just in salt water. to the original question , Inshore , Flounder , spec trout, sheephead , redfish , , I have caught snapper and grouper near shore , but not in Texas. So I will leave them off the list. MO

The worms make the filets just a little more tender and flaky when you fry them up.

I figured I owed y'all an update. I finally got to spend a good 5 hours fishing out there on Saturday. The wind was blowing a full gale. All I caught was about 25 tiny catfish which would eat my shrimp within about 1 minute of every cast. By tiny I mean these things were like 6"-8". I tried both dead shrimp and live shrimp on the bottom and under a cork. Any idea how to keep these danged catfish from biting? Cute kids! To keep from catching hardhead catfish use lures. If bait, stick with live shrimp under a float (you will still catch some hardheads but a lot fewer than with dead shrimp fished on the bottom).

If you keep you bait moving they wonโt mess with it as much. If waters muddy they seem to come out in droves. Find some clean water.

Free line some live shrimp under a popping cork around those lights after dark. Cast to the edge of the light. Dead shrimp will catch hardheads. I've caught hundreds of trout just like this. You don't even need the live shrimp. Get a few spec rigs chart/white and glow white/pink and a 51 series mirror lure in chart/gold sides. Cast it past the light into the dark area and work it through. The spec rigs work slow and steady. The mirror lure you will have to experiment. Sometimes they like one one pop and stop and sometimes you can trigger a bite popping it very aggressively. I used to live on Clear Lake and we had two lights on our property. Over a span of 8 years and thousands of trout, I narrowed it down to these two. No need to spend money on bait.
