What do y'all think causes this? You're on a two-lane highway stuck behind someone going 45, the speed limit is 70 but once you hit a stretch of a passing lane everybody speeds up to 80 mph and once it necks back down to one lane nobody has passed anybody and you slow back down to 45. I demand answers, although I have a feeling it's just human stupidity.

It's simple herd mentality. As soon as someone else starts going faster, then the lead car will speed up too. There should be a law that people should put on their cruise control when driving down the highway. Can't tell you how frustrated I get passing the same guy 17 times because he gets aggressive when he is passed, but lazy when he is leading the pack.

What annoys me is when you are going down a 3-lane road, the traffic is bumper to bumper and there is this nervous a-hole right on your butt. They switch lanes back and forth like somehow they are going to get ahead of everyone. "What do you want me to do fool? I can't go anywhere!"

Be safe,

A few years back when Peter and I were down there we had some crazy old couple driving 50 backing everyone up, when we we finally got to a passing lane I wizzed past them and they started racing me (around 90mph) to the lane merge giving me the thumb to get back behind them. Crazy. It has to be some weird control thing.

It’s just about as bad between Hillsboro and Whitney.

Thankfully the stretch of 2 lane hwy I take is less than 10 miles, but it happens on that short stretch as well. I just say screw it and don't even worry about passing anymore.

What a maroon!

Just got back from driving to SC and back, truckers now stay in passing lane even if there is no one in right hand lane

People pulling the lawn mow trailer running 45 in the left lane makes me wonder

+1, I often drive it to deer lease. Passing stretches are limited on that road. People are either asleep at the wheel or on phone. I see the same thing on 220 and 281. I was just south of Glen Rose a few years back and just as we got to the 70 mph sign this hispanic lady decided she was going the wrong way and did a u turn. I had to ask my son to look in the bed and make sure we did not lose anything.
